Beulah days...

Our time in Beulah was so nice! Having our family together for a long weekend was more than great..wish we could do it more often. The valley was super green from all the rain, and it's amazing to be in a place where nothing much changes (kind of like being in Mayberry with Andy and Barnie!) The Beulah store is an historic landmark, and we loved browsing the Uncommon Market for some uncommon finds! The fly fishing wasn't great, but the company was first-rate!
There's nothing better than being with the people you love most in life. Simpler is better...I could get used to this!

Summer is here! I love my morning walks, sitting on the porch sipping tea and reading under the Aspens. I can't imagine summer any where else. I appreciate the slower pace as the hectic rhythm of Monday morning is always lurking, but for now I can savor time alone, soak in all God's goodness, reflecting on all He's given, and be thankful.
Just a few more minutes, and then full speed ahead!

T.V.interview was so fun!

In late March I did an interview on the Authors of Douglas County Show, channel 8, for my recently released childrens' book, The Pickle Man: Dreaming of the Majors, and it aired for the first time on June 1st!
The interview can be seen throughout this month, and can also be viewed on their website by going to: http://www.douglas.co.us/networkdc/authors/ It was so much fun, and the host, Jamie LaRue, as well as the camera crew, were wonderful to work with! It's been over twenty years since I've been on a televised broadcast(not since my acting," pre-kids" years), and I had forgotten how much fun it can be! Doing radio interviews again has been a kick, and being able to speak to family issues dear to my heart via my book is truly a dream come true for me!
God is good, and I am grateful. Who knew being a published author could be so crazy fun?! Waa-whoo and whap-ti-doo!!

Let it Snow!!

It's actually snowing here...schools are canceled as well as some businesses. It's so fun to finally have a snow day! Think I'll make a big pot of chili, don my favorite flannel pj's, and watch a dvd with my man by the fire!

Where have all the kids gone?

It's been uncharacteristically warm here in Colorado....very un-February and un-March like I must say! Cruising down our neighborhood street on intermittent 60-70 degree days when our two boys were young was like finding yourself inside "The Family Circus" comic strip. The road and walks were lined with kids of varying shapes and sizes on trikes, bikes, hot wheels, roller blades and skate boards once school let- out for the day. Driveways with basketball nets were teeming with middle-schoolers, and dogs and cats ran free!
The day before yesterday temperatures soared into the 70 degree range here in Parker, yet fewer than a few children were outside post-school. After school activities acount for much of the disappearance of neighborhood play, but whatever happened to bike-riding, street hockey, driveway basketball, kick-the-can, and jump roping?
Obesity in children is at an all-time high in the U.S. It doesn't take an Einstein to figure out why.... No longer do kids RUN home to " play outside," but instead plop down in front of their PC, Play Station 2, or favorite HD DVD movie! The statistics aren't good...the life expectancy over the next few decades could decline unless aggressive efforts are made.
Where have all the kids gone? Whatever happened to the imaginative play of childhood?

Christmas All Year Through

This time of year always evokes memories of my grandma, and her selfless giving. My grandma carried Christmas in her heart every day of the year. Whether a neighbor in need of a meal, a friend in need of encouragement, or a lonely elderly man or woman in need of friendship, my grandma was there to lend a hand. I miss her and continue to be inspired by the way she led her life. I saw Jesus in her, and pray that in my own life others will see Him in me as well. Thank you grandma...I love you!
